Playing catch up...

Wow I took quite the vacation from the blogging world there didn't I?  And with no real or good excuse I might add. What you missed while I was away...

1.  Wyatt continues to eat like a champ!  He has loved everything we have given him.  So far he has          had Avocado, Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Carrots, Green Beans,Banana, and Pears.

2.  Taylor "helped" us finish her play kitchen for her birthday.  Due to her "help"  it took us a                real long time to get that sucker done but boy does she love it!

3. Taylor turned 2!!!! Holy cow, I cannot believe I am the mother of a 2 year old!  Its amazing how            fast the time has gone by.

4. Taylor has had an incredibly lucky December.  She has had two different birthday parties besides            her real birthday yesterday.  Presents and cake more times than she can keep track of :)

5.  Wyatt got his first tooth!  Its not all the way up yet but it is getting there.  He just cant wait to eat
food I guess, enough with this watered down mushy baby food!

6.   The babies continue to be buddies!  Makes my heart so happy!  Wyatt absolutely lights up when
he sees Taylor and especially if she pays attention to him.  So thankful for kids who are friends!

Sibling Diaries Entry #4
When Taylor wakes up from her nap, Wyatt and I go snuggle on the bed with her.   They love hanging out with each other an extra lot at this time of the day.  She likes him to lay right by her on a pillow.  Then she likes to give him hugs and kisses and high fives and all sorts of things :)  So I thought I should document one of these sessions!

Super Babies!!

Halloween has come and gone in one big blur!  I wanted to have a theme for our little family's costumes and after much thought all I could come up with were Superheroes.  So, thanks to Bri's help brainstorming, Cody and I were .... burglars.... something evil and mischievous anyways. (as you can see, Tay did not want pics taken)

I made the kids costumes with what scraps of material we had and my very beloved hot glue gun!  But oh happy day!  My sweet sweet hubby bought me a sewing machine, which arrived this week, so I shouldn't have to glue things together anymore. Yahoo!

It ended up being a titch to cold to take the babies out trick or treating.   Which was better actually, cause we were able to  make it through the ultimate candy holiday with Taylor only getting a very small amount of candy to take home.  Yeah yeah I know,  poor kid :)

For Family Home Evening last week we were gonna make caramel apples but I thought those would be way too hard for Tays to eat.  So instead of covering a whole apple we just did slices.   We had caramel, chocolate 'dust' (thats what we told tay), and sprinkles.  It turned out great, the Tayter Tot loved making, eating, and wearing them!

No Sibling Diaries entry today but I do have a small side note.  If anyone has an extra minute in their day and they happen to think Taylor and Wyatt are pretty cute.... I have entered them in the Gerber baby contest.   You can vote for each of them once a day through a link on my facebook page if you are interested.  Thanks :)

NEW PICS ARE IN LAST WEEKS ALBUM

"Leaf" Us Alone Winter, We Love Fall!!!

We are thrilled to have a tree in our backyard.  We love the shade and, as we found out the last couple of weeks, Taylor loves playing in all the leaves.  But I think what Cody and I might love the most now that its fall is that there is only one. :)  Raking leaves is a lot of work it turns out!
It has been amazing weather this last little while and we have been trying to get out and enjoy it as much as we can.  We have been playing in the leaves and the sandbox a lot in anticipation of cold days to come when we will be stuck inside.  Though luckily now our 'stuck inside' wont be bad because we love our house!!!  Tay loves getting a running start and jumping into the leave.  She also liked throwing them up in the air and having them float down around her and she definitely got a kick out of being able to bury us with piles of leaves.
We also went for a walk to Octagon Springs, which is just a couple of blocks from our house.  Its the same idea as Hooper Springs.  There is a little pavilion where you can go see the spring.  Tay loved putting her hands in it cause the water felt bubbly on her fingers.
Also Wyatt started eating rice cereal and he loves it!! He is a little champ, he just slurps it up as fast as we can shovel it in!! This week we are going to try starting him on some other food, I am excited, I think he will be a good little eater!  We also bought an old entertainment center at the D.I. that we will be making into a play kitchen for Tay for her bday ( I will post pics of our progress throughout the weeks) and she has loved 'helping' us work on it.  Good thing she is little enough that she can see her presents now but not really know what is going on and still be surprised later ;)

Sibling Diaries Entry #3

This week our entry isn't based on jealousy, sweet or funny as it may have been in previous weeks.  Tay loves to do hair (not for real.  it is hard to do her hair in a socially acceptable manner).  She loves putting all the headbands, flowers, and clips we have in her hair and in anyone who happens to be around.  The other day we had her all decked out, she was having a blast and looked like a tropical garden had sprouted on her head.  She noticed Wyatt didn't have any and she didn't want him to be left out, so she helped us, gently as she could, deck him out to.  I LOVE that they are FRIENDS!

Rub a Dub Dub, Two Kiddos in the Tub.

I am having a hard time knowing what to post about.   Last week was just a pretty relaxed week, we didn't really do anything out of the ordinary.  Well I guess we did actually, we had family pictures taken.  The photographer is still editing them though so unfortunately I don't have any that I can post today.  Wyatt cooperated really good for the pictures, we were actually able to get him to smile but boy howdy! Taylor was not in the mood I guess.  So I really hope there is at least one with all of us looking at the camera and as a bonus perhaps even smiling!

                            Sibling Diaries Entry #2

Taylor has waited a long time for Wyatt to be able to bath with  her, so now that he is big enough most nights they take their bath together.  Tuesday night we did things a little different.  Cody bathed Tay while buddy and I cleaned up dinner.

When we were finished we went in the bathroom, Tay was just getting out and was wrapped up in her towel.  But... when she saw me start taking Little Guys clothes off and filling up the little tub she sensed that she was about to miss out on something fun so she threw her towel down and hoped in the tub.

The baby tub.  The baby tub usually meant for one baby.   So they both had a corner and Tay was just loving it.  So much in fact, that when it was time to get out she let us take Wyatt out but she refused.  She wanted to relive her glory days as the only baby around I guess.

Official Installment of The Sibling Diaries

Miss Kiniki loves her buddy Newt so much and vice versa.  However... they have their moments :)  They truly enjoy being with each other and Tay has been awesome at dealing with Little Buddy coming in and stealing half of the attention away from her.  But sometimes she remembers that all the 'baby' things we have used to be hers, and all of our attention used to be hers.  I tell ya, us oldest kids really have it rough emotionally for a while :).

Anyways I decided to start documenting those little moments.  And as you can clearly tell by the title of this post, I will be calling them 'The Sibling Diaries'.  I hope you will find them as entertaining as I do.  I will try to post one every week but hey turns out kids are unpredictable and stuff, so we will just have to go with the flow on this one!  Last weeks incident was really entry #1 into the Diaries but since I hadn't really started it yet.... Here is the official first entry into our Allen Family Sibling Diaries.

It started out like last week, Tay was just having a good time coloring when all of a sudden she sensed something wasn't quite right.  As she turns and looks behind her she sees Wit playing on the floor.... on something that she thinks is hers (pretend its a gender neutral colored toy ok?).  However this week there were no tears, tantrums or meltdowns.  She just said "Hey!" and crawled right on in with her buddy.  She played for a minute and then decided it wasn't as fun as she had remembered after all and crawled back out to go about her business.   Meanwhile Wyatt is just thrilled to pieces to have his Tayto girl sitting by him and playing with/around/over him.

                                                        LOVE THESE KIDDOS!!!
(also for anyone who cares, or if anyone actually ever looks at this... I will try to have a new post up each Monday or Tuesday)

Some days our little angel has a devil on her shoulder

Tay loves this Bumbo chair.  I put Wyatt in it and we witnessed a two year 'my way of the highway' moment.

First she tried to sit on him.  Then came the pulling.

Then came the full out melt down

When I let her sit in it she wanted to hold Wyatt and the little stinker was happy as could be!

And.... We're Back!

I am a little sheepish that I could only manage one post and then took a month long vacation from blogging.  Let's just say that things have been a little hectic around here lately and I'm thinking now they are calming down and I can fill you in on all the craziness.  Yahoo!  Lucky you eh? :)

((see the craziness I was talking about))

Enough fluff, lets get down to the good stuff.  And when I say good stuff I mean my babies.  They are everything good in our lives!  Man, we sure have some awesome kids!  Since I assume the only people reading this are people who love us already.... then I think you will agree with me on that point.  We have had such a fun summer with our Kiniki girl and her buddy Newt.  They are already such good friends, they love each other and love being together.  I am one lucky momma and I can't wait for them to grow even closer as they get bigger.

I am going to attach pics so you can see all the fun things we have been able to do together this summer.  We have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time with all the grandparents lately and they have had a big hand in helping Tay have an awesome summer and making sweet memories.

Things we have done this summer that will appear in this photo album:  welcome wyatt to our crazy clan, catch frogs, swim (Tay even had a skinny dipping episode!), run a half marathon, try corn on the cob  for the first time, buy a house, watch cartoons together, drive a lot of hours, use chopsticks for the first time, ride in a jeep, catch Tay a fish, tour daddies work, play and fight.  Just to name a few :)  Enjoy!  And bear with me as I try to not be a blog failure.  I don't want our 'Can of Soda' to fizzle out!

Here we go!

This is the maiden voyage of our little Allen family blog, and I'm wondering if it is weird to wish my own creation good luck on its journey?  I do, after all, have complete control :)

This weekend is going to be crazy exciting for us.  We were supposed to close on our house next Friday but we got the call today that everything was in order and we are closing TOMORROW MORNING!!!  What?!  That's right, as of tomorrow we will be real official Homeowners. I guess that makes us real adults?  :)

Then Saturday morning is the Top of Utah Half Marathon.  Woot woot!  I am so excited and as ready as I think I can be.  Lets not get too hopeful for a first place finish but seeing as little buddy is not quite 3 months old yet, I am just happy I have felt good enough to run and race with my Mom, Dad and Bri.

So a big weekend here.  I would say our 'Can of Soda' will have a little extra zip to it this weekend.
